Frank Zappa’s Political Legacy

Now that this election year comes to an end, we turn our thoughts to the political pundits of days gone by. Mark Twain once quipped when talking about people running for public office, “you should always tell the truth because it’s easier to remember”. Essayist Gore Vidal said a similar thing when he once quipped that “the United States was founded by the brightest people in the country — and we haven’t seen them since”. So it comes to no surprise that Frank Zappa’s comment “When God created Republicans, he gave up on everything else” (To Alan Thicke, 1984) is equally appropriate remark in 2016.
